Above: Dahlia Rissman poses for a group photo with abandoned boys in Lucre, Peru in 2006. Through Dahlia's fund raising efforts these boys were provided with a refurbished kitchen including a new refrigerator and gas refills for their stove. They also received individual and group mental health counseling, educational seminars on the environment and hygiene, nutritious meals, new clothing, and the opportunity to form a music group and perform in the city of Cusco.

The
first project included the painting of a mural which is shown above.
It was painted at the Choquechaca Elementary School in Cusco, Peru in
2002 by Miriam and Tania of Cusco Bellas Artes, as part of a project to
refurbish and brighten the learning environment for public school
students. In addition to the painting of the building, broken lights
and windows were repaired. The entire outside of the building was
painted as well. Students, teachers, administrators and community
members came together to make our vision a reality. The mural is a
representation of the ideas of students at the school for how they
would like to see the world.
